Psychological Services

We have broad experience working with clients of all ages in individual, couple, group and family therapy.

Birth to three year old
Our staff is experienced in conducting and coordinating developmental assessments for children under three years old. We work with parents to gain a greater understanding of the specific challenges facing their child and identify appropriate interventions to assist in his/her developmental goals. While these children may also benefit from services offered outside our facility, we can act as case manager to devise the most appropriate program to fully meet the child’s needs.

Children
We serve children with developmental issues and situationally based problems, including the consequences of divorce, trauma and bereavement.

As with all of our work, we begin with a comprehensive assessment of the challenges the child is facing in both the family and school setting. This process begins with a meeting with the parents and a review of the child’s developmental history, previous evaluations and interventions. Our assessment often includes an in-school observation, the completion of questionnaires by the parents, teachers and/or the child, and if indicated, performing formalized academic and psychological testing.

We take pride in individually tailoring our recommendations and interventions based on these assessments. Depending on the needs of the child, we can offer individual play based or cognitive/behavioral therapy, group therapy, family counseling or guidance, and suggestions around problematic school and social functioning. Much of our work is of a short term nature.

Adolescents
Psychological literature often describes adolescence as a time of significant familial conflict and rebelliousness. While true for many, this does not describe the situation facing all teens. All adolescents struggle with their conflicting feelings about independence and the challenges of individuation as they determine their own identity. They must also learn how to cope with their emotional and intellectual changes along with increasing societal expectations. This process is often difficult for the adolescent and entire family, and it is not unusual for a family to seek help in guiding their teen through this period.

For this population, we offer individual counseling, group and family therapy. Always mindful of the confidentiality of our client, we can consult with school personnel regarding school and social functioning. We can also help families consider the various educational environments that are available for their child.

Adults
We have extensive experience working with clients facing a wide variety of issues including:

  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • Loss
  • Marital & family issues
  • Job related problems
  • Other difficulties in adjusting to various day-to-day challenges.
We utilize both dynamic and cognitive approaches in individual, couple and family therapy. Neurofeedback intervention is available as well.

Psychological and Academic Testing
We provide psychological and academic testing to assist in diagnosis, treatment planning and placement. These services have been approved as independent evaluations by a number of school districts.
